Mapping the Minor Place Names of the Cooley Mountains
Mapping the Minor Place Names of the Cooley Mountains was a project aimed at recording the minor place names of the Cooley Mountains County Louth. It was carried out by Eve Campbell, Andrew McGuinness, Siobhán McDermott and Wojtek Dominiak in spring-summer 2015. The project was funded by the Mourne Cooley Gullion GeoTourism Project, and supported by Dr Mark Gardiner, QUB. The project comprised field collection of place names from farmers in the Cooley Mountains and desk-based collation of previously conducted work. Names were contributed to the project by Andrew McGuinness, Matthew McGreehan, John Finnegan, Michael Dooley, Tom Reilly, Ian Woods and Dermot Breen. Field work was carried out by Andrew and Eve. Field maps were prepared by Siobhán and the report was collated by Eve. IPA transcriptions were carried out by Wojtek.
