Sources

This section of Meitheal Logainm.ie includes a collection of resources containing information about specific minor placenames. The following list of sources has been compiled by Gaois, Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge (DCU) in collaboration with the Placenames Branch (Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media). This list is intended to provide some examples of research in the field of minor placenames and is not comprehensive. It currently contains references to published research and general sources relating to research on minor placenames and will be updated on a regular basis. Corrections of data are always welcome as are suggestions for new material (essays, maps, photographs and other); please contact us at logainm@dcu.ie. Sound Archive of the Placenames Branch (www.logainm.ie/phono/): this sound archive consists of the placenames recordings of the Placenames Branch. It contains more than 1,200 hours of recordings that were made mainly in the 1960s and 1970s.
